Serie A round-up: Roma and Turkey winger tops midweek player ratings

Both Napoli and Roma geared up for their upcoming meetings with Juventus and Lazio and dominate the Serie A team of the midweek matches as they overcame Parma and Frosinone, respectively. Indeed, the pair have three players each in the best XI from gameweek six, while Juventus and Lazio, who both won in midweek, are represented in the side in the form of Blaise Matuidi and Joaquin Correa.

However, it’s Roma star Cengiz Under who is the star man in the XI this week after a man of the match performance in the 4-0 trouncing of Frosinone. The Turkish winger scored one from two shots and registered one assist from three key passes. He was a constant menace for the Frosinone defence as he completed three dribbles in the victory to return a WhoScored rating of 9.13.

Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik also podiums in the top performing players from the midweek action, with the Polish forward landing a WhoScored rating of 9.00 for his display in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Parma. Milik scored two of Napoli’s three goals in the victory, his brace coming from five shots, while one key pass and one tackle helped land the 24-year-old the WhoScored man of the match award.

Milik is made to settle for third spot in the best-rated players as a result of the point-attaining performance of Pietro Terracciano in Empoli’s 1-1 draw with AC Milan. The 28-year-old was sensational against Gennaro Gattuso’s side as he made 10 saves to deny the AC Milan offence, that a record in a Serie A match this season. An additional six accurate long balls saw Terracciano return a WhoScored rating of 9.06 in a top showing from the shotstopper.

Propping up a player ratings table this week is Chievo midfielder Perparim Hetemaj, who endured a nightmare showing in a 2-0 loss at Genoa. Hetemaj committed the error for Goran Pandev’s second half goal and was booked for his troubles after half an hour. With two fouls to his name and a lowly pass success rate of 56.5%, he was subbed off after 55 minutes as he gained a WhoScored rating of just 4.74.
