West Ham star against Brighton? The best FPL transfers for gameweek 14

Who are the best transfers for FPL ahead of gameweek 14? 4-time top 1k and 5-time top 5k finisher Abdul Rehman uses stats, fixtures and the eye test to find the best Fantasy Premier League players with the potential to pick up big points and help shoot you up the rankings.

Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.3m) – Wolves

Fixture: Burnley (H)

Rayan Ait Nouri kept another clean sheet last gameweek and has yet another plum fixture to do so again in gameweek 14. He seems to have nailed down that left-back spot at the expense of Marcal. He has started every game since gameweek 9, picking up one assist, while creating seven chances with an xA of 0.73.

Wolves host Burnley in gameweek 14, who have only scored 14 goals (17th) with an xG of 15.2 (16th). They are struggling this season and also sit in relegation places. Conversely, Wolves have had a great start to the season as they sit sixth and have also been solid at the back.  They have only conceded 12 goals (4th), 98 shots in the box (7th), 54 shots on target (6th) and an xGC of 16.7 (6th). The bookmakers also have them as the third favourites to keep a clean sheet (44%) for gameweek 14.

Ait Nouri has a fine fixture this week and he is the most attacking defender for Wolves. His price of only £4.3m makes him a fantastic value asset and surely one of the best FPL defender for gameweek 14. He will continue to pick up clean sheets and attacking returns this season for sure, just so long as he keeps his place in the starting line-up, which at the moment looks assured.

Jarrod Bowen (£6.4m) – West Ham United

Fixture: Brighton (H)

Jarrod Bowen has been a great asset this season, and one who has been flying under the radar. Only owned by 3.1% of managers, Bowen has two goals and four assists from 21 shots in the box, 13 shots on target, five big chances and an xG of 4.04. He has also created 19 chances, with an xA of 2.81. He is an all-round attacking threat who can both score and assist.

West Ham play Brighton at home in gameweek 14. Graham Potter’s men have only conceded 14 goals (5th) with an xGC of 15.3 (5th) and have been putting up some impressive underlying numbers at the back. However, the Hammers have been one of the best attacking sides scoring 24 goals (4th) with an xG of 20.9 (4th). They have scored against the likes of Liverpool, Man United and Manchester City, so are more than good enough to breach a good defence.

Also with West Ham playing at home, they will be favourites in this one. Bowen is on corners and free-kicks, so will always be within a chance of attacking returns. I can see his stock increasing over the next few gameweeks as his fixtures pick up and this could be the perfect time to bring him in with a home fixture against Brighton. He was being rested against Manchester City, sp he will be assured of a start.

They will surely get chances to score in this one and the midfielder is heavily involved with a 62% goal involvement since gameweek 5.

Callum Wilson (£7.3m) – Newcastle United

Fixture: Norwich (H)

Callum Wilson has blanked in the last four league games for Newcastle United, but looking at his record in the Premier League, it’s only a matter of time before he starts scoring again. He has 38 goals and 24 assists in the last three seasons.

This season, in nine starts he has scored four goals from 17 shots in the box, managed six big chances and an xG of 3.24. Newcastle come up against Norwich in gameweek 14 in what looks to be an early relegation six-pointer. Although Norwich have been on a good run of late, winning two of their last three games, the Toon will still be favourites to win this one.

Over the season, the Canaries have conceded 17 goals (19th) with an xGC of 24.0 (19th). And although Newcastle are the only side that have a worse defensive record than Norwich, going forward the Magpies are much better. They have scored 15 goals and clearly have a more potent attack than their relegation rivals.

Wilson is nailed on to start and is their number one penalty taker. He will no doubt be their top scorer again this season and he has the perfect game this week to get back to scoring ways. Callum Wilson is also the third favourite to score anytime (48%) according to the bookmakers.
