Arsenal welcome Bayern Munich in the Champions League Quarter Finals on Tuesday night.  

Bayern Munich have struggled in the Bundesliga this season despite the signing of Harry Kane in the summer. The Bavarians are 16 points behind Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen as things stand and look set to miss out on the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2011/12.

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League in an exciting title race with Liverpool and Man City in hot pursuit. The Gunners currently boast the best defence in the league having conceded just 24 goals and have scored more goals (75) than any other side in England’s top division.

Arsenal have of course had a tough time when they’ve faced Bayern Munich in their most recent meetings. The Gunners were on the received end of a 10-2 aggregate scoreline when these sides met in the Last 16 of the 2016/17 competition.

Things have changed a lot since then and Arsenal’s squad is undoubtedly much stronger and hopes are high in North London that this could be the year they get the better of the German side.

Jurrien Timber remains the only injury concern for Arsenal ahead of this fixture with his recovery edging closer but this game will come too soon for the Dutchman.

Dayot Upamecano is available for selection after serving his suspension in the second leg against Lazio and Thomas Tuchel has seen Manuel Neuer, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, and Noussair Mazraoui all return to training ahead of this clash.
