Form Guide

Manchester United have failed to win just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, that a 0-0 draw at Leeds last weekend, and come into the meeting with rivals Liverpool on the back of a 6-2 win over Roma on Thursday. United know that if they avoid defeat, they can prolong the title race for another week at least.

And that leaves Liverpool in a interesting position. They'd love nothing more than to secure a win over United, but in doing so, they would officially hand over their Premier League crown to Manchester City. The Reds were made to pay for their profligacy against Newcastle last weekend as they drew 1-1 with the Magpies, though that stalemate did extend their unbeaten league run to five matches. Liverpool haven't beaten United at Old Trafford since a Steven Gerrard-inspired showing back in 2014, while in six games at United, Klopp's record stands at four draws and two defeats.

Team News

Manchester United came through their 6-2 win over Roma unscathed, with just Anthony Martial and Phil Jones sidelined. Recent reports suggest that Marcus Rashford has not played a game pain free in two years, though he is in line to start regardless. After his heroics in midweek, Edinson Cavani may drop to the bench in place of Mason Greenwood, while Eric Bailly could start at Victor Lindelof's expense alongside Harry Maguire.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will hope to restore Fabinho to midfield at Old Trafford, but that is dependent on Nathaniel Phillips' fitness having missed their last two matches. Curtis Jones will also be assessed, but Klopp is without Caoimhin Kelleher, Joel Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson. James Milner is expected to get the nod in midfield alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Thiago.

Man Utd vs Liverpool - Premier League team news and prediction

Last week, it was confirmed that the Euro squads will be extended from 23 to 26 players, so those who were on the brink of the England squad now fancy their chances of making the cut. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is yet to receive a senior call up, despite his good form for Manchester United, and that speaks volumes at the quality of personnel at Gareth Southgate's disposal. Nevertheless, Wan-Bissaka is looking to put in another timely reminder of his quality against the 2019/20 champions.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's season started poorly, but with two assists and a goal in his last four league outings, the young right-back is making up for lost time and putting in a number of solid outings in the build up to Euro 2020. Alexander-Arnold has impressed against the Big Six this season, with his two best rated showings coming at Tottenham and Arsenal, a trend he'll look to continue at United.

Score Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool
