Marco Bizot (Brest) - 8.66

Competition debutants Stade Brest made it two wins from two with a thumping 4-0 victory away to Salzburg on Tuesday evening, and crucial to the visitors’ clean sheet was goalkeeper Marco Bizot. The 33-year-old made a total of seven saves, two punches and two successful high claims, to return a WhoScored rating of 8.66.

Alexander Bah (Benfica) - 8.74

One of the surprise results of the week was Benfica’s dominant victory over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, with the Portuguese side running out 4-0 winners at the Estadio da Luz. Danish right-back Alexander Bah turned in a fine display for the hosts, scoring their third goal of the evening, while also making one key pass, two successful dribbles, four tackles and four ball recoveries.

Inigo Martinez (Barcelona) - 8.16

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona were another side on the right end of a big victory this week, putting five past Young Boys on Tuesday evening, and centre-back Inigo Martinez had a direct hand in two of those goals. The 33-year-old defender headed home Barca’s third of the night shortly before half-time, before laying on the assist for Robert Lewandowski to make it 4-0 just six minutes into the second half.

John Stones (Manchester City) - 7.95

Partnering Martinez at centre-back is Manchester City’s John Stones, who produced a nearly faultless display in the victory over Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday. Stones misplaced just one of the 110 passes he attempted in Slovakia, while he also completed all five of his long balls, and made five ball recoveries, on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.95.

Alvaro Carreras (Benfica) - 8.46

Completing the Benfica full-back pairing in our XI is former Manchester United youth player Alvaro Carreras, who helped the Portuguese side to their dominant win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Carreras recorded 95% pass success, completed all four of the dribbles he attempted, and made three tackles and four interceptions, in a fine all-round showing.

Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund) - 10.0

With a perfect 10.0 WhoScored rating, Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi is our Champions League Player of the Week following an impressive performance against Celtic on Tuesday. The 22-year-old Germany international fired home a first-half hat-trick in what turned out to be a 7-1 victory over the Scottish champions, finding the net with three of his five attempts on goal. Adeyemi also made two successful dribbles, two tackles, and won the penalty converted by Serhou Guirassy in the 40th minute.

Raphinha (Barcelona) - 9.26

New Barcelona captain Raphinha makes our XI following yet another strong display under new boss Hansi Flick. The former Leeds United star both scored and assisted in Tuesday’s 5-0 victory over Young Boys, while he also made a total of six key passes, two successful dribbles and three tackles, to return a WhoScored rating of 9.26.

Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City) - 9.17

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan netted his first goal since returning to the club in the summer when he opened the scoring for Pep Guardiola’s side against Slovan Bratislava. The 33-year-old also made five key passes, one successful dribble, four accurate crosses and seven ball recoveries.

Sima also made a total of five tackles, seven ball recoveries, and won five of the six aerial duels he contested, to land a WhoScored rating of 9.13.

Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund) - 9.41

The second Borussia Dortmund representative in our XI following the thumping of Celtic on Tuesday is striker Serhou Guirassy, who continued his impressive form since joining the club in the summer, scoring in a fourth successive match. The Guinea international was on target with all four of his attempts on goal, while he also made a key pass, a successful dribble and a tackle, contributing to a WhoScored rating of 9.41.

Mehdi Taremi (Inter) - 8.93

Rounding off our Team of the Week is Inter striker Mehdi Taremi, who was directly involved in three of the four goals scored against Crvena Zvezda on Tuesday evening. The Iran international scored his first goal for the club since his summer switch from Porto, while he also provided assists for Marko Arnautovic and Lautraro Martinez, in what was a strong all-round performance.
