Chelsea vs Manchester United: The best FA Cup final betting tips

The final day of the domestic season is upon us as Manchester United face Chelsea at Wembley to battle over the FA Cup. The two teams are looking to end the campaign with a piece of silverware as they look to put disappointing seasons behind them. United may have finished second, their highest Premier League finish in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, yet were a whopping 19 points behind rivals Manchester City, who romped to the title.

Chelsea, too, finished outside of the top-4 in a limp title defence and, regardless of today’s result, head coach Antonio Conte is set to bring to an end his two-year stay at Stamford Bridge this summer. He’ll be keen to see out the season with a bang and land their eighth FA Cup, going one better than last year’s final after falling to a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.

Conte’s task is made the all more difficult considering the Blues’ away day woes of late. They’ve lost six of their last 10 matches away from Stamford Bridge and they come up against a United side that boasts a formidable record when playing at Wembley as a neutral. Indeed, United have won their last seven cup matches at Wembley, last losing at the national stadium in the 2011 Champions League final to a formidable Barcelona side.

United are as high as 2.95 with some bookmakers to win today, which considering their fine form at Wembley, is too good to pass up. Factoring in the Champions League final, a 3-1 loss to the La Liga giants, and seven of United’s last eight non-league matches at Wembley have seen over 2.5 goals. The last four FA Cup finals have seen over 2.5 goals scored and you can get odds on three of more goals scored of up to 2.40 ahead of the final.

Turning attention to the individual player markets, and the standout personnel are former Arsenal teammates Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud. Alexis has a formidable record at Wembley, with his header in last month’s 2-1 win over Tottenham meaning he has now scored eight goals and registered one assist at the English national stadium. Backing him to add to that and score anytime is available at 4.40, which is too good to pass up.

Using the Bet365 bet builder tool, Manchester United to lift the trophy, over 2.5 goals to be scored and Alexis Sanchez to score anytime comes in at a tempting 7.50. Crucially, though, is that it’s impossible to discount Giroud from having an impact in today’s final. He provided the key assist for Aaron Ramsey’s winner in this match last year and having netted in the 2-0 semi-final win over Southampton, the Frenchman has now had a direct hand in 22 goals (15 goals, 7 assists) in 26 FA Cup appearances since debuting in the competition in January 2013.

His odds are a little less favourable than Alexis, in that he can be found at 3.60 to score anytime, but adding him to the Bet365 bet builder will increase the above odds from 7.50 to a huge 26.00. Even just Alexis and Giroud to score anytime is a tasty 13.00 and considering their fine records in the competition and at Wembley, that’s worth a flutter ahead of the Wembley showpiece.
