Everton gatecrash top-10 team form rankings after Manchester United demolition

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain became the first teams in Europe’s top five leagues to wrap up their respective league titles over the weekend but neither side are among our top-10 form teams.

PSG were crowned Ligue 1 champions before they had even kicked a ball on Sunday evening, while Juventus came from behind to beat Fiorentina and secure an eighth Serie A title in a row.

Unlike Juventus, who have a 20-point lead over second place Napoli in Italy, Bayern Munich’s pursuit of a seventh straight Bundesliga title is under severe threat.

Bayern have been pushed all the way by Borussia Dortmund and currently lead their fiercest rivals by one point heading into the final four league matches of the season.

Niko Kovac’s side have hit top form at the ideal moment in the league. Bayern edged Werder Bremen 1-0 at the weekend and have now won five of their last six in the Bundesliga.

Despite a slight drop in weighted WhoScored rating across those matches, Bayern have retained their position as the most in form side in Europe’s top five leagues for the fifth week running.

Fellow Bundesliga sides Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig occupy second and third, respectively, in the WhoScored team form rankings. Hoffenheim have also won five of their last six in the league, including four wins on the spin after thumping Schalke 5-2 away from home on Saturday.

Hoffenheim have now scored at least four goals in three of their last four league matches and have moved up two places, leapfrogging Leipzig into second in our team form rankings. Leipzig wrapped up their fifth straight league win at the weekend, winning 2-1 away to Gladbach but it wasn’t enough to prevent Hoffenheim from replacing them in the team form rankings.

Manchester City drop one place despite winning each of their last six Premier League matches. Pep Guardiola’s side are pushing Liverpool all the way for the league title after beating top-six rivals Tottenham 1-0 on Saturday.

Atalanta and Atletico Madrid are non-movers from last week, managing to hold onto fifth and sixth respectively, after both winning at the weekend. Atalanta impressively came from behind to beat Napoli away from home on Monday night to keep pace for a top four finish in Serie A, while Atletico scrapped a narrow 1-0 win at Eibar to consolidate second in Spain.

Everton were the biggest movers in the top-10, rewarded for their stunning 4-0 win over Manchester United. Marco Silva’s side have won four of their last six in the Premier League and kept clean sheets in each of those victories, impressively picking up the scalps of Chelsea, Arsenal and West Ham, in addition to Sunday’s demolition of United. They have increased 14 places.

The Toffees moved up 14 places in the team form rankings and that was even enough to leapfrog Merseyside rivals Liverpool in the top-10. Liverpool responded to City’s victory over Tottenham on Saturday with a 2-0 win at Cardiff more than 24 hours later. Jurgen Klopp’s side, like City, have won each of their last six in the league and have moved up two places in our top-10.

Burnley and Real Madrid round off the top-10 as new entrants. The Clarets have all but secured their Premier League status for another season after a 2-2 draw at Chelsea on Monday night to reach the magical 40-point mark. Burnley have picked the perfect moment to string together a four-game unbeaten streak, which includes wins over Wolves, Bournemouth and Cardiff.

Madrid have improved their position in the team form rankings by 10 places after Karim Benzema helped himself to a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Athletic Club on Sunday. Madrid have won four of their last six in the league and have benefitted from Frankfurt, Barcelona and Werder Bremen dropping out of the top-10.
