WhoScored.com Acca Assemble - Premier League Gameweek 22

Our very first #AccaAssemble kicks off this weekend ahead of another round of #PremierLeague fixtures. Using three of the 3pm Kick Offs we have asked our twitter community to choose who they would like to see in their three fold. The games chosen were Man Utd vs Crystal Palace, Aston Villa vs Leicester and Wolves vs Liverpool.

Using Oddschecker to ensure that we get the best price in the market to create our very own acca and offer some rationale behind the picks below.

Man Utd vs Crystal Palace – Man Utd to Win 21/50

First up we’ve got Erik Ten Hag’s Red Devils playing host to Vieira’s Crystal Palace. Manchester United have been in fine form since returning from the World Cup and have only lost once in 2023 which came at the hands of the current league leaders Arsenal. Man United have scored 32 goals in the Premier League this season and are averaging 13.7 shots per game. In the reverse fixture, Man United attempted a total of 15 shots, but only managed to get four on target.

Marcus Rashford is their one to watch; he’s scored 18 goals in all competitions this season including ten since his return for the World Cup. He’s also provided 6 assists and he will be looking to add to his goalscoring tally at Old Trafford this weekend.
Crystal Palace can take some hope from the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park, but the Eagles haven’t scored a goal from open play in 630 minutes of league football. They have also created the third fewest chances in the league with just 20. The only teams with fewer are Bournemouth, Wolves and West Ham.

To make matters worse for Palace, they will also be without their talisman, and top scorer in the league, Wilfried Zaha who is on the sidelines for around six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury. He has scored six goals already this campaign and provided two assists so his absence will be a big loss for Palace.

Aston Villa vs Leicester – Aston Villa to Win 42/41

Our second pick comes from the game at Villa park when Emery’s side welcome Leicester City. Aston Villa have won three of their four five outings and will be hoping to make the most of a rocky Leicester side and get another win on the board.

Leicester are only one point above the drop zone and have been leaky at the back and only Bournemouth have conceded more than them this season. They’ve conceded a total of 35 goals already this campaign and sit in 18th with a minus seven goal difference.

The last time these two sides met, Aston Villa recorded a 2-1 victory in the League Cup, at Villa Park. Our Twitter community are clearly expecting a similar outcome on this occasion and have chosen to opt for Villa to take all three points.

Wolves vs Liverpool – Liverpool to Win 19/20

Our third and final game come from Molineux where Wolves take on Liverpool. Liverpool are going through somewhat of a rough patch. The Reds are yet to record a league win in 2023, and have been beaten comfortably by Brentford and Brighton in that spell.

Wolves have had mixed form this season two and have only won four games in the league this season. Their last fixture was a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City, but Wolves will be keen to bounce back and get some all important points to break away from the relegation zone.

However, positively, Liverpool have beaten Wolves in eight of their last nine meetings in all competitions, keeping a clean sheet in seven of those matches. Our Twitter community seem to suggest that it will be another Liverpool win with 39% voting for a Liverpool win.
