Premier League round-up: Aguero up and running as Manchester City ace lands perfect 10

Manchester City have a fairly easy start to the season, all things considered. After the 2-0 win over Arsenal, they smashed six past Huddersfield to lay down a marker in a bid to defend their Premier League crown. Over the next five matches, they face the remaining five promoted teams over the last two years and with Sergio Aguero hitting top form, opponents should be fearful of the Argentine just warming up for the season.

The City striker earned the first perfect 10 of the Premier League campaign and second in Europe’s top five leagues after compatriot Lionel Messi achieved the feat on Saturday night. Aguero powered in a hat-trick in the 6-1 triumph over Huddersfield, and could have netted four in all having struck the woodwork in Sunday’s win. With an additional two successful dribbles and one key pass, the 30-year-old was good value for a WhoScored.com rating of 10 at the Etihad Stadium.

Striking teammate Gabriel Jesus partners Aguero in the second Premier League team of the week of the season. The Brazilian was on the scoresheet against Huddersfield, scoring one of six goals in the win, and could have easily had an assist had his teammates boasted their shooting boots, with Jesus creating five goalscoring chances on Sunday. Two successful dribbles and one tackle helped the youngster return a WhoScored.com rating of 9.47, the second highest in gameweek two.

At the other end of the spectrum, it was an afternoon to forget for Ben Hamer. He may have made more saves (9) than any other goalkeeper has managed in a Premier League match this season in Manchester, but having conceded six, two of which were as a result of direct errors leading to an opposition goal, the shotstopper returned a WhoScored.com rating of just 4.91, the worst in the second round of Premier League fixtures of the 2018/19 campaign.

Rounding off the top performers is Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell, whose fine performance in the 2-0 win over Wolves returned a WhoScored.com rating of 9.02. The youngster failed to have a direct hand in a goal, though it wasn’t for want of trying as he had one shot and made one key pass, and pressed forward well, completing four dribbles. Chilwell was defensively diligent, too, making five tackles, four clearances and one interception to help the Foxes put a big three points on board.
