Barcelona linked with surprise move for Liverpool man

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has emerged as a shock target for La Liga champions Barcelona, according to Spanish publication Marca.

The La Liga side are looking to land a backup shotstopper for number one Marc-Andre ter Stegen with Jasper Cillessen set for a move away from Camp Nou.

The 29-year-old is keen on regular first team action having made just eight competitive appearances for the Bluagrana last season.

With a summer move on the cards, Barcelona are looking at possible replacements for Cillessen, with Mignolet a rumoured target for the Spanish giants.

Liverpool are keen to sell the Belgian, who has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following the arrival of Alisson from Roma.

Besiktas are also in the running for the 30-year-old, who are looking to replace Fabri with Mignolet after his move to Fulham was confirmed earlier this week.

It’s thought that a £12m offer would convince Liverpool to sell Mignolet, who made 19 league starts last season before he lost his place in the starting XI to Loris Karius.

Koen Casteels and Yann Sommer have also been mooted as potential replacements alongside Mignolet shoud Cillessen depart.
