German goalkeeper arrives at Liverpool for medical

Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius has arrived at Liverpool to complete his medical ahead of his £4.7m switch to Anfield, reports The Daily Mirror.

Liverpool have been monitoring Karius’ progression in the latter half of the season as they look to sign a new goalkeeper to add competition to current No.1 Simon Mignolet.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have now acted to activate Karius’ release clause and the move will be made official once he completes his medical on Monday.

Karius, 22, who spent two years at Manchester City’s academy before joining Mainz in 2011 has represented Germany at Under-21 level and is already regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga.
