Leicester to offer indispensable star new deal

Leicester are planning to offer star striker Jamie Vardy a new contract in a bid to ward off interest from some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Vardy, who has ver two years remaining on his current £40,000-a-week deal, is enjoying the finest form in his career, as Leicester start the new calendar year joint top with Arsenal at the top of the tree.

The England international’s performances have unsurprisingly courted interest from some of the Premier League elite and, at 28-years-old, the frontman’s next contract is likely to be his last big payday.

However, Leicester have no interest in cashing in on their talismanic forward and are keen on getting him to sign a new long-term deal to ward off inevitable interest in January and at the end of the season.

Vardy broke Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record for scoring in 11 consecutive matches earlier this season and is currently the top goalscorer in the league (15).
