Man City to rival Real Madrid for Bayern Munich sensation
Manchester City are ready to rival Real Madrid in the race to sign Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, reports Spanish publication Fichajes.
Davies has established himself as a key man for Bayern after breaking onto the scene in the 2019/20 season.
While initially signed to play on the wing, Davies broke into the Bayern side at left-back following injury to Lucas Hernanez.
The Canada international has since gone on to establish himself as one of the best in his position on the continent.
Davies' performances have understandably caught the eye of Real Madrid and Manchester City, with Los Blancos reported to be favourites to land the 23-year-old.
However, City would undoubtedly rival Real Madrid for Davies as they look into the possibility of signing a specialist left-back.
While the Premier League champions spent big to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig last summer, the Croatia international will eventually move to play centre-back for City.
Real Madrid are likely to prioritise the potential signing of Kylian Mbappe this summer but do need to bolster at left-back with neither Fran Garcia nor Ferland Mendy nailing down the first choice spot at the back.
Davies has completed 45 dribbles this season, that ranking fourth in the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign to reinforce a statistically calculated WhoScored strength of 'dribbling'.
