Manchester United interested in Paris Saint-Germain defender

Manchester United intend to strengthen their ranks at right-back in the summer and have earmarked Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier as a potential transfer target, claims The Independent.

Ashley Young has endured a severe decline in form over the last few months and United intend to find a replacement as part of a huge summer overhaul.

United have already been heavily linked with a move for Crystal Palace starlet Aaron Wan-Bissaka but are concerned his arrival would stifle the development of 20-year-old Diogo Dalot.

Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier is another option being considered by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side but the Red Devils could face competition from Atletico Madrid for his services.

United have cast their net across Europe and have now earmarked PSG defender Meunier as a potential transfer target for the summer.

Meunier has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth at PSG following Dani Alves’ arrival in the summer of 2017.

The Belgium international has only started 17 league matches this season and made a further three appearances from the bench.

The 27-year-old’s current deal will only have 12 months left to run this summer and he is reportedly keen to leave PSG.

Meunier must start three of PSG’s remaining five league matches to reach 20 starts in a single league campaign for the first time at the club.

Of PSG players to have made at least five league starts this season, Meunier is the club’s ninth highest WhoScored rated player (7.07).
