Saint-Maximin's future at Newcastle in serious doubt

Allan Saint-Maximin's future at Newcastle has plunged into doubt after a falling out with manager Steve Bruce, claims The Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old has quickly developed into a fan favourite at St. James' Park following his £16m move from Nice in the summer.

Saint-Maximin has offered Newcastle supporters rare moments of excitment but has struggled for regular playing time this season owing to concerns over his fitness.

Bruce dropped Saint-Maximin to the bench for Saturday's 0-0 draw with Burnley and later revealed the winger is struggling with a hamstring injury.

Despite also being declared a doubt for Wednesday's FA Cup tie against West Brom, Saint-Maximin's camp insist the youngster is fully fit.

Reports have emerged suggesting Saint-Maximin's performances in training have dipped recently and Bruce does not completely trust him for the club's relegation battle.

Saint-Maximin has only scored one goal in 17 league appearances for Newcastle this season but is arguably one of the most exciting players to watch with the ball at his feet.

Saint-Maximin's future at Newcastle in serious doubt

Wolves and Crystal Palace are understood to be monitoring his future at Newcastle as both clubs could be on the market for new wingers this summer.

Both clubs are bracing themselves for interest in Adama Traore and Wilfried Zaha, respectively, at the end of the season and Saint-Maximin would be a like-for-like replacement for either.

In fact, Traore averages the most dribbles per game in the Premier League this season (5.2), followed by Zaha (4.6) in second Saint-Maximin (4.3).
