WhoScored Tipster: The Weekend's Top Tips Across Europe

It is becoming routine to see the main event in England played out on a Monday night: this time around it is also the biggest game of the weekend across Europe and the only direct clash at the top of a table. Arsenal-Manchester City could be especially relevant to the aspirations of their season for the hosts, who must prove to be competitive in what looks likely to be their most realistic bid for the title in years.

Arsenal vs Man City - Arsenal @2.37

This is the perfect chance for the Gunners in reference to the whole season, not only this game. It's unlikely to reoccur that every competitor will experience such a tough period at the same time, while Arsenal are generally improving game by game. This match with City is a message to not only their rivals but also themselves.

It will be tight, but the Emirates seems to have recovered the up against Mertesacker there is a chance for City, but Otamendi must be wary of underestimating the likes of Joel Campbell. There is only one ‘extremely likely' scenario in WhoScored’s match forecast, and it is that Gunners will score "as a result of a through ball". The odds on them winning are @2.37 for Bet365.

Inter vs Lazio - Under 2.5 Goals @1.80

The win in Coppa Italia offered some relief to the increasingly frustrated Laziali, but Inter seem to have been flooded with confidence and will prove hard to stop by a team that temporarily appears scared by its own shadow. In fact the odds on the Nerazzurri are just too low. That’s not the case in the under 2.5 goals market though: each of the last 5 league games have ended that way for Lazio, and the same was the case in 3 of Inter’s last 4 home league games.

Real Betis vs Sevilla - Sevilla @2.00

Real Betis would have much preferred to have played this derby a month ago when Sevilla where in a terrible run of form. However, they are now unbeaten in their last six (five wins and one draw) matches in all competitions, which they haven’t managed to do since they went on to retain their Europa League title last season. The difference in form is mirrored by the odds, where the away side are slight favourites. Moreover, Betis have not won the home derby in nine years, in which time they’ve lost four and drawn one.

Frankfurt vs Werder Bremen - Over 1.5 Goals in First Half @2.50

This encounter will see two teams among the worst defensively in the Bundesliga meet head-to-head. Only Stuggart (36) have conceded more goals in the league than Werder Bremen (30) so far this season in German’s top-flight, whereas only four teams have let in more goals on home soil than Frankfurt (13). Games involving Frankfurt have tended to be entertaining for both sets of supporters in recent memory, particularly in the first half where there have been over 1.5 goals in three of their last four outings. The WhoScored Match Forecast predict there will likely be goal scoring chances for both teams and the frontmen should be in for a treat with both sides listing a host of statistically calculated weaknesses, most of which all regard their defence.

Caen vs PSG - Draw @4.20

Can Paris Saint-Germain be stopped this season? They are already 17 points clear of the chasing pack in Ligue 1 and are still unbeaten, having won 15 of their 18 matches. At the start of the season, not many would have tipped a team like Caen to be the side capable of ending such a streak. While they aren’t likely to upset the odds and stop the streak, they are more than capable of holding the reigning champions, who may find motivation a problem after all but sealing the title with a thumping win over Lyon. Caen are deservedly in fourth place and their home form ranks among the top teams in the league this season. Moreover, the WhoScored Match Forecast predicts it is ‘extremely likely’ that Caen will create many scoring chances.
